Spam is email from a person or company who you never signed up to get email from. Unfortunately, spam is something we all have to live with. Even though anti spam laws have been put in place, there is little hope that spammers will adhere to the laws so the only thing left to do is to try to filter out as much of it as you can.

Most spammers harvest email addresses from the web. If you have ever posted in a forum or advertised on the internet and included your email then it was probably grabbed by a spammer. According to estimates, 95% of all viruses spread through email. Some viruses propagate by mailing themselves out to everyone on the infected computers address list while other, more sinister types open a “back door” on the machine which spammers can use to send out more junk emails.
